MEET MARÍA LUZ
Hi, I’m María — the person behind Alamán.
The funny thing is, I didn’t start this because I had always been the creative one.
For a long time, I was actually one of those people who would say, “I’m not creative.” I overthought things. I worried about whether they were good enough. Somewhere along the way, I realised how many of us stop ourselves from making, trying or showing up because we think we are supposed to already be good at it.
Alamán started from wanting to create something different: a place where you can make something without needing to be an artist; come alone without feeling awkward; meet someone without it becoming networking or another night out; and try something new without worrying about making it perfect.
Today, I create workshops, gatherings and experiences around Malmö and beyond — usually with beautiful spaces, good food, thoughtful details and something to make with your hands.
I’m figuring a lot of it out as I go. Alamán is growing workshop by workshop, collaboration by collaboration and idea by idea. Some things work. Some change completely along the way. That’s kind of the point.
I don’t believe creativity is reserved for creative people. Sometimes you just have to start before you feel ready.
